130710 Update

I hope that everyone enjoyed the recent Independence Day celebrations. A very heartfelt "Thank You" to all veterans past, present, and future for all you do in the service to our country.

It has obviously been a while since my last update, so let me bring you up to speed. Cowan Creek has been cleared from its intersection with Berry Creek, upstream to where it enters the property. This finalizes the bulk clearing for all the creeks within our community which will allow for the most expedient flow of water out of Sun City after a heavy rain event. Kudos to the CA Logger Crew and contractor, Austin Wood Recycling, for an excellent job.

The CA Logger Crew has also been busy clearing the area north and south of the LHGC #1 tee box, beside the entry to the Legacy Hills Pavilion. We are expected to complete this area by July 19th. Here is an aerial image of where this located for better reference.

While we were working this area, Fire Wise leaders, Dan Dodson and Paul Ohlenbusch, coordinated a visit from KEYE, a local news station to promote fire wise awareness. 130501 Essex Lane Culdesac Outfall

Today we are beginning a new area between Essex Lane and Sun City Boulevard, beside the water tower. There is a drainage outfall here that is thick with Willow Baccharis and Ashe Juniper.

130501 Mocking Bird Trail Parking Lot

The crew has cleared and constructed, with help from the developer, a golf cart parking area and trail entrance. It is located on Sun City Boulevard outbound, before Texas Drive, beside the survey trailer.

130423 Fire Wise Volunteers

Good Day NH 40 and Firewise volunteers,

The CA Board asked that CA staff along with fire wise volunteers  address the area behind the homes that applied for a pocket park.

Looking at the scope of work we will need about 2 full days to get the area cleaned up. For details please see image at bottom of this email

Could you be available on April 10th and the 11th to assist?

Work items include:

·         remove any small cedars & Willow Baccharis (treat with stump treatment) along the stretch

·         limb trees up to 6'- remove mistletoe where we can reach it from the ground

·         remove invasive vegetation

·         remove any ladder fuels from trees (vines and briars)

The firewise volunteers normally work Thursday mornings.

CA staff will be on site from 9am - 12pm and again after lunch from 1pm- 4pm with chainsaws and the chipper.

Volunteers are asked to bring any hand tools for cutting small vines and vegetation. You will need long sleeves and pants, gloves, eye protection and a great sense of humor. CA staff will provide water.

We will need to watch golfers closely. We have seen some golf balls in the L4 area but it is my understanding that these come out of the sand bunkers.

130416 Drainage Easement

With the completion of the LHGC Driving Range area completed, we have moved on to maintaining some of the drainage outfalls from the neighborhoods. We are currently working between neighborhoods 15 and 24.
